Tuolumne Meadows, California (Yosemite)

The above painting was done as a commision for someone who wanted to have a painting of their favorite place in Tuolumne. The client
saw a bronze sculpture I did and then asked for an oil painting of the same subject.

The above piece was another commission done by someone who wanted a painting of this particular mountain. Of course the peak
to be painted was deep in the backcountry so I had to do some serious hiking to get myself out that way. With steep climbs up
talus covered slopes, and the imminent threat of rain, the hike wasn't the easiest in the world, but eventually I get to some good places to create some studies from.
Once I got the pictures and some sketches done I was able to start the piece. Unfortunately the painting had to be done during the fall
season so I missed quite a few opportunities to be painting the brief fall season while working in the studio. I figured since the piece
was already sold, I'd sacrifice my time doing what I want to be doing to help another art lover out, but then when I finish the piece
and call up the client. They disappeared and haven't been heard from since.
I wanted to capture the true essence of Yosemite Valley. I wanted to glorify the average man, the tourist. The tourist in his natural surroundings.
