Who will photograph our wedding?
I personally shoot all weddings.
What kind of camera do you use?
I shoot with the latest professional Canon digital cameras. Currently my main camera is a 13 mega pixel EOS 5D. I also use Canon’s top of the line lenses and portable flash units.
You shoot digital, but can you offer film as well?
Because of the quality of today’s digital cameras and the ability to edit in real time to know if I’m getting the shots, I no longer offer film. I feel the prints being made today exceed traditional film prints in the control available to color and contrast, and all images can easily be made into color, black and white, sepia etc… I also find it invaluable while shooting to make sure exposure is correct, and to see right away if someone blinked or turned by accident, as to be able to shoot again and not miss the shot. No more waiting on the film to be returned to find out things like this. The quality of today’s digital prints is exceptional, and the longevity is guaranteed to last your lifetime. No compromises here compared to film. In fact, I feel that all the way around, digital is giving me the opportunity to offer my clients a service and product that is far superior to film.
How big can you make prints?
I currently offer prints up to 16x24, and they look gorgeous!
Can I keep my digital negatives?
The digital negatives are not included with my service, but if this is important to you, I can sell you high resolution files.
Is there a limit to how many photos you take?
There is no limit to the number of photos that I take, another advantage of shooting digitally. With digital there is no reason not to shoot anything and everything, and I even find that I can make a lot more of the “low percentage shots” work, by seeing them immediately. By “low percentage shots”, I mean the curious creative shots that a lot of times just don’t work out, but when they do are spectacular. With film it is easy to pass up a lot of these opportunities, but with digital I just shoot away and see right away if things are working, and I can make adjustments on the fly to create as many unique shots as possible.
How will we see our proofs?
Your proofs will be posted online within 2 weeks of the wedding. The Bride and Groom will be notified once the images are online, and then after reviewing the proofs, you can “release” the site and allow all the wedding guests to view and purchase whatever they like online, saving you much time and energy. If you desire to see paper proofs, for an additional charge I do offer a very nice spiral bound proof book, or for the ultimate in elegance, try the Birch Book 8x11 proof book from Willowbook, sure to please even the most discerning bride.
What is Wedding Photojournalism?
Quite simply, this is the process of telling the story of your wedding day through pictures. There is so much more to it than staging moments and running around “snapping candids”. It is challenging and elusive process of capturing the spirit of each unique couple, and conveying the “feel” of the day.
Do you shoot formals as well?
Of course, no wedding would be complete without some gently posed traditional shots. I will talk with each couple ahead to see when the best time is, and discuss any group shots that are important to you. I try to keep this time to a minimum as to not interfere with you enjoying your own wedding!
Will we need to provide a “shot list”?
The nature of photojournalism is to capture all the memories; however you may feel free to let me know about any photos you want to make sure that I take. Please provide me with a concise list of group photos that you would like taken, but please remember that the longer the group shots, the less time to tell the story of your wedding day.
Do you require a meal?
Yes, please feed you photographer and his assistant if applicable.
How do we commission you?
When you get in touch with me, we will discuss your wedding needs, you can ask me any questions you may have, and then I shall present you with a contract to reserve your date. A retainer of 50% is due at the time of signing the contract to reserve your date, and your balance will be due the day of the wedding before I shoot.
