For the past ten years, my summers have been spent painting in the mountains of Tuolumne Meadows.
Tuolumne is just a small section of Yosemite National Park that's located in the high country above eight thousand feet.
The beauty and purity of the mountains teaches me things about life that I couldn't learn anywhere else. There is something about being out in the elements which opens up my mind.
Everyone's parents have told them about the importance of the people you surround yourself. I've always agreed, but I'd also add
that the place one lives is just as important as the people living there. Yosemite feeds my soul and allows my mind and body to wander
at will.
Once I realized that I wanted to paint, I picked up and moved to Yosemite for a summer. With a focus on plein air painting, I was
able to wander amongst a landscape that has inspired artists such as Chiura Obata, Thomas Hill, Thomas Moran, Penny Otwell and others for many years.
It's my hope that these paintings add something unique to the respectable canon of Yosemite inspired art.
